A Letter for Parents & Carers
I understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming for a child. My service is designed to address the complex issues that impact a young person's self-esteem, focus, and emotional regulation.
Issues I support include:
- Family Dynamics: Conflict, separation, illness, or the loss of a loved one.
- School Life: Engagement, bullying, and navigating peer relationships.
- Social & Emotional: Identity, belonging, emotional intelligence, and sexualised behaviours.
- Neurodiversity & Sensory Needs: Neuro-diverse concerns and sensory needs in neuro-typical environments.
How I help:
These challenges can often manifest as anxiety, withdrawal, or difficulty focusing. I use evidence-based techniques to help children build self-worth and learn to regulate their emotions in a supportive environment.
Working with you (consent & involvement):
I’m able to include parents and carers when it helps the child’s progress and comfort. Together we’ll agree what information is appropriate to share, and I’ll ask for your consent before discussing session details (unless there’s a required legal exception for safety).
Practical boundaries:
To protect the child’s privacy, I generally share high-level updates with you (for example, themes we’re working on, goals, and practical strategies you can support at home) rather than the content of each session. If I ever need to share something specific, I’ll explain what’s involved and talk it through with you first.
If safety is a concern:
If I become concerned that a child or someone else may be at risk, I’ll explain what I’m required to do and discuss next steps with you. My aim is to keep the child feeling supported while we address safety in the right way.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your child's privacy is a priority at Back on Track. All sessions are strictly confidential, providing a safe space for them to express themselves freely.
As a registered professional, I adhere to the ethical guidelines of the ACA and PACFA. There are specific legal exceptions to confidentiality—such as concerns regarding the safety of the child or others—which I will discuss in detail during our initial intake session.
